Public Law is the Barrister subject candidates most often underestimate. It gathers constitutional law, the Charter, administrative law and the rules that govern how tribunals and government decision-makers act and how their decisions are challenged. It is less about a single client's file and more about the framework every other area sits inside, which is why it rewards candidates who understand structure: who holds the power, on what standard a court reviews it, and what remedy is available.
The quizzes are written to make that structure concrete. A question puts a decision-maker, a statute and an affected person in front of you and asks what route exists and how a court would approach it. Explanations trace the analysis step by step, so the doctrine stops being abstract and becomes a sequence you can run under time pressure.
What's included
- Three 25-question quizzes, each with its own unique questions
- Untimed by design: these are for study, not simulation
- Two attempts at each quiz, freshly ordered every time
- No overlap with each other or with our mock exams
- Developed to entry-level competency standards and approved by the tutors at LexPD
- Competency-level reporting after every quiz. Because both attempts are of the same quiz, movement between them is real movement, not a difference between papers.
- A ranked list of what to work on first, ordered by the marks actually at stake rather than by your lowest percentage
- Where a category is too small to judge honestly, we name it and say so rather than print a number you would act on
A good first pack for candidates who came through a program light on administrative law, and a good third one for anyone whose mock exam report shows Public Law as the area with the most marks to recover. It rounds out the Barrister set alongside Civil Litigation, Criminal Law and Family Law.
About explanations: explanations unlock at 55%. That is our own threshold, not a passing standard, because the Law Society does not publish one. It exists so the quizzes cannot be farmed for an answer key by submitting blank attempts. Below it you still see every question you missed and the area of law and competency each one tested; sit it again after studying and the explanations open up.
Writing again? Repurchase this pack at 15% off. Not everyone passes first time, and preparing again shouldn’t mean paying full price again.
